I had the absolute joy of capturing Valor and Callie’s engagement session recently, and I have to say, their love story is one that shines so brightly, it was an honor to witness. As a wedding photographer, I’m privileged to meet so many incredible couples, but there’s something about these two that truly stood out. I’ll be capturing their wedding this spring at the stunning Wingate Place in Charleston, and after their engagement session, I’m even more excited to be part of their big day. Enjoy reliving their engagement session through the gallery listed below!
From the moment I met Valor and Callie, it was clear that they share a deep connection. It wasn’t just the way they looked at each other, but the way they laughed, the small gestures, and the calm presence they brought to one another. They radiate love and kindness, and it’s the kind of energy that makes you believe in true love all over again.
One of the things that stood out the most about this session was how comfortable they were with each other. Valor is the quiet strength to Callie’s bright energy. Their personalities complement one another perfectly, and I could see how their dynamic will carry them beautifully through their wedding day and beyond. They were so natural together—whether they were playfully laughing or sharing a quiet, intimate moment, every bit of it felt genuine and effortless.
When we talked about where they’d like to have their engagement photos taken, they were both excited about incorporating the timeless beauty of downtown Charleston into their session. Charleston has always been a dream backdrop for photographers, and for Valor and Callie, it was the perfect setting to reflect their love.
We started in one of my favorite spots—the cobblestone streets of the French Quarter. The historic charm of the old brick buildings and iron gates set against the soft afternoon light gave their session an almost magical feel. Walking along those narrow streets, you can feel the history in the air, and it was incredible to see Valor and Callie’s modern love story come to life against that backdrop.
One of my favorite moments was when we popped into an area of greenery downtown. The live oaks and Spanish moss provided a romantic, dreamy backdrop for their Charleston engagement session!
Throughout the session, what I loved most was how much fun these two were having together. Engagement sessions can sometimes feel a little nerve-wracking for couples, but not for Valor and Callie. They were so at ease and so in tune with each other that the whole session felt like an effortless celebration of their love.
There was this beautiful spontaneity in the air as they explored downtown Charleston hand-in-hand. I always send out a session prep guide, which includes fashion and styling tips for their engagement session, but my biggest tip is just to arrive at your session ready to have fun. And they sure did! Each moment felt so real and unforced. The morning light made this Charleston engagement session feel extra magical as well.
And let’s not forget the little moments that made this session so special—I gave my usual posing direction but these two filled in the rest with love and joy. Those are the kind of authentic, intimate moments that make engagement sessions so meaningful.
What I loved most about Valor and Callie’s engagement session was how it gave me a glimpse into the love story that will unfold on their wedding day. Their bond is undeniable, and you can tell they are not only madly in love but also true partners. They have an ease and comfort with one another that speaks to a deep, genuine connection—something that will no doubt shine even more on their wedding day at Wingate Place.
I can already imagine how magical their spring wedding will be, especially with Wingate Place’s sprawling gardens and elegant Southern charm providing the perfect backdrop. If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day will be full of love, laughter, and plenty of sweet, candid moments that I can’t wait to capture.
One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is when a couple loves their photos as much as I do. After the session, I was thrilled to hear how much Valor and Callie adored their engagement photos. Knowing that they’ll look back on these images for years to come, remembering this special time in their lives, fills my heart with so much joy.
As a wedding photographer, I aim to not only document the beauty of the day but also to capture the essence of the couple’s love. With Valor and Callie, that love was so palpable, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been the one to capture it.
As we head into their wedding season, I find myself reflecting on how special it is to follow a couple from their engagement all the way through to their wedding day. This journey with Valor and Callie has already been filled with so much love, and I know their wedding day will be a true celebration of their relationship.
Wingate Place, with its lush gardens, historic architecture, and Southern charm, will be the perfect setting for their spring wedding. I can already picture Callie in her wedding dress, surrounded by loved ones, with Valor by her side as they say their vows. It’s going to be a day filled with love, laughter, and beauty, and I can’t wait to capture every moment of it.
To Valor and Callie—thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. Your love is a beautiful thing to witness, and I am so excited for all that is to come for you both. I’m looking forward to your wedding day and all the incredible moments it will bring.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll always look back on your engagement photos with as much joy as I felt taking them. Here’s to your love story and the beautiful adventure ahead!
This engagement session was truly one for the books, and I’m so grateful to Valor and Callie for allowing me to document this special chapter in their lives.
