I was fortunate enough to spend some time in Florida this summer with the most beautiful couple, Eve & Will (and Dan, their dog!) to capture their engagement session in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Eve and I were texting 24 hours prior, worried about the thunderstorms forecasted for the morning of our session, but we truly were so blessed to wake up to an absolutely perfect sunrise for these two. This intentional & authentic session perfectly captured this sweet time in their lives.
When Eve first reached out to me, she was looking for a photographer for their engagement party in Jackson Hole, which will be taking place this upcoming summer. I’m so passionate about telling a story through my work, and after talking through it with Eve, she decided that it was important for her to preserve this chapter in hers and Will’s lives by having their engagement session in Jacksonville, where Eve is from and where she and Will currently live.
This was my first time in Jacksonville Beach, and I was so stunned to see this breathtaking sunrise above the blue water. The beach was perfect and the view was unmatched. One of the core tenets of my work is approaching photography with the importance of memory, to bottle it up as a visual time capsule for years to come–so that no matter how much time has passed, Eve & Will can be transported back to this time in their lives through these photos.
We were so blessed to have this break in a really gloomy, rainy day with this absolutely perfect sunrise. Eve, Will, and I got to know each other better and explored what felt authentic to them for their photos. Their excitement, happiness, and love for one another was so palpable. Although, I think we can all agree that Dan was the true star of the show! It was such a privilege to get to know these two better and bottle up this moment through photography. I loved hearing about their dreams for the future, both personally and within their businesses: Eve is the owner of Stoned Fine Jewelry, and Will owns Bluebird Hard Water.
I think the engagement session is vital to get into the mindset of my couples and bring authenticity into their photos. It was wonderful to connect with them ahead of their engagement party in Jackson Hole next summer, a “cowboy chic” celebration that we are all so excited for! I can’t wait to see the magic unfold at their upcoming celebration and witness the next chapter of their beautiful love story.
