About The Gadsden House Wedding Venue

The Gadsden House is a spectacular, historic home that has been listed on the National Historic Register and celebrated as one of the top 10 historic properties to preserve in Charleston. The building was built in 1798 by Revolutionary War hero Christopher Gadsden for his son. The house remained in the Gadsden family for generations. Until the Historic Charleston Foundation purchased the property in the mid-20th century. They converted it into several apartments and office spaces. Only recently, in 2014, did the Historic Charleston Foundation and Luxury Simplified Construction step in to revive the special property.

With the renovation, the grounds were restored to their natural beauty. The House was also revitalized as a spectacular event space that maintained the historic charm of the original home. All while updating it with all of the modern amenities needed for a luxury gathering. Today, the house features its original heart pine floors, gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, and impressive chandeliers. Begin your wedding day surrounded by your closest friends and family, especially as you get ready together in their beautiful Bridal Suite. It features makeup vanities, comfortable seating, floor-length mirrors, and a private bathroom. Perfect for a day of pampering and excited preparation for the best day of your life. Your partner and their party can get ready in the Groom’s Suite. Equipped with a wet bar, a big-screen TV, and lots of cushy, comfortable furniture. Perfect for relaxing and unwinding before the big day.

As far as ceremonies are concerned, The Gadsden House can accommodate up to 180 guests for outdoor ceremonies and up to 80 for indoor ceremonies. If you’re only planning on hosting your reception with them, however, you can bump the guest list up to 250 people as long as you plan to utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The parlor rooms are perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies or a beautiful reception full of charm and romance.

When you or your guests need a little fresh air, take advantage of one of their expansive Southern piazzas with gas lanterns and views of the property’s gorgeous gardens and Charleston’s waterfront. We’ll take advantage of their beautiful courtyards for gorgeous outdoor photos, using the Magnolia trees and palm trees as beautiful backdrops. While the Gadsden House’s beauty is certainly part of its allure, it’s only part of what makes it a luxury wedding venue for a wedding. Their professional and accommodating events team offers exceptional service throughout your planning process and beyond. As far as catering is concerned, all of your food and beverage needs are covered by King Street Hospitality Group. They are the exclusive provider of all catering services at The Gadsden House. Something else to keep in mind is that while a King Street Hospitality Group Manager will be onsite to oversee the venue and catering staff, you are required to use a full-service event planner or partial planning coordinator in order to host your wedding at The Gadsden House.
