Maeve + Riley’s Engagement Session in Hampton Park | Charleston, SC Engagement Session

I absolutely loved capturing Maeve & Riley’s engagement session at beautiful Hampton Park in Charleston, SC. As a wedding & couples photographer, my passion lies in capturing love stories. It means the world to me to work with couples who can “let me in on the secret” and invite me into their world for a little while. It’s how we co-create photographs that feel authentically “them.” Maeve & Riley did that so beautifully, and each one of their photos sings with the palpable love they share

Hampton Park is one of Charleston’s most beautiful locations, with lush florals and greenery, and a pond with a storybook bridge. It’s truly one of the most perfect backdrops for any photo session, and one of my go-tos! I was so excited that Maeve loved the area too, because I knew it would be the perfect atmosphere for Maeve’s vision. Spring in Charleston is so beautiful, and the azaleas were blooming and the greenery was popping!

It’s so important to me to get to know each couple I photograph, because we create together–there’s a magic that comes from being able to open up in front of my camera, and it doesn’t happen right away. I loved getting to know them better and hear about their story–and I love that they chose to include their dog, Blue, for a few photos as well. As a dog mama myself, it’s always so sweet when I get to work with a furry friend!

Two things will really effect your final photos: lighting and outfit choices. For an afternoon/evening session, I prefer to stop shooting an hour prior to sunset, and always work backwards to calculate our start time. On the day of Maeve & Riley’s session, it was pretty cloudy, but I love the beautiful lighting it gave their photos! They followed my engagement session style guide perfectly, and chose a lighter color palette that was absolutely perfect for the light and airy photos they were hoping for.

It’s so important to me to work with couples I connect with, and I felt so grateful to be able to capture this chapter in Maeve & Riley’s story. They are such a sweet couple and are so in love with each other, and Hampton Park provided the perfect backdrop for their engagement session!
