Details of the Grounds
Hibernian Hall is a stately historic treasure in the heart of Charleston, perfect for big gatherings and weddings. Some of the city’s grandest events and weddings have been held at the venue, and your wedding will be no exception. That being said since the venue has one primary event space, most couples choose to host their ceremony offsite. Mills House has several other event spaces nearby, and there are plenty of historic churches, parks, and private courtyards in the general area.
Additionally, Hibernian Hall doesn’t have Bridal Suites or getting-ready spaces. However, it’s a great opportunity to rent a charming Airbnb where you can gather your wedding party for hair and makeup. Alternatively, rent a room or two at Mills Hall for a nearby place to get ready that will offer plenty of space and great light for getting ready photos.
Cocktail hours and receptions are held in the hall on the second floor, and there is plenty of room for the entirety of your celebration. There’s a huge stage perfect for a live big band and plenty of space to get everyone on the dance floor. Have I mentioned there’s enough room for up to 350 guests to join you for your wedding? Natural light floods into the hall through grand windows, and when night falls, dramatic uplighting can totally transform the space into an epic party.

Due to the size of the room (almost 6,000 square feet!), the layout possibilities are pretty endless. There’s also plenty of opportunities to incorporate drapery for an even more elegant touch. Photography Opportunities
The front steps of Hibernian Hall are great for wedding photos that are totally unique to the venue. Flanked by Grecian columns and an ornate wrought iron fence, the grand wooden front door is a gorgeous backdrop. Inside, the gorgeous light makes it ideal to take pictures surrounded by your wedding florals and decor before any of your guests arrive.
That said, Hibernian Hall does not offer many more onsite photo locations. However, there are plenty just steps away! We can wander Mills House to find secluded courtyards, vintage staircases, and unique architectural features. Being in the heart of downtown Charleston, we can also wander the streets in search of quintessentially Southern and Lowcountry photo sites. The beautiful White Point Gardens is also only a short drive away!
